Rivington’s underwriting team are experts in wildfire patterns and behavior, using that knowledge to evaluate and underwrite homes on their individual risk characteristics. While many insurance companies solely rely on analytics for black-box underwriting, Rivington looks at each individual home to determine how vegetation, wind patterns, topography, aspect, in conjunction with the home’s construction characteristics, impact risk eligibility.
Rivington’s team of Wildfire Consultants have tenured backgrounds in wildland firefighting with Cal-Fire and the US Forest Service, averaging 18 years of experience amongst them. These Consultants conduct an inspection on every insured home, evaluating Replacement Cost, Loss Prevention Mitigation, and Fire Adaptability. The focus during these inspections is on educating the homeowner on how to create “defensible space”, how to reduce fuel load, and how to harden their home against wildfire damage.
Most importantly, Rivington’s homeowners policy provides a robust coverage offering, which can be tailored to meet homeowners specific needs. Coverages include Extended Replacement Cost and Ordinance or Law, which are critical for every home located in a wildfire area. Furthermore, coverage is not limited by special wildfire deductibles or sublimits; the standard policy deductible also applies to wildfire.
Rivington’s leadership team are insurance veterans, with deep knowledge and experience within underwriting, risk management, distribution, and claims. Not only have they spent their careers in the California insurance marketplace, but they are all California natives with an understanding of the regions, microclimates, vegetation, and weather patterns. They share a passion and a commitment to not only providing wildfire insurance coverage, but also to providing resources and guidance on how homeowners can better protect their property and their lives from wildfire.
